Appellation : GIGONDAS
Colour : Red
Vintage : 2001
Vineyard Surface : 26 Ha
Yield : 35 Hl/Ha

Grape Varieties :
Syrah 80 %
Grenache Noir 20 %

Average Age of Vines : 25 years.

Soils : Sandy. Vineyards are on various expositions.

Harvest : 100% handpicked. Cluster selection takes place, under supervision, prior to transportation.

Vinification : Domaine des Bosquets is fermented by indigenous wild yeasts present in the vineyard. Using medium capacity, temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, musts are fermented at 30°-32°C. To enhance extraction and intensity, tanks are drained via gravity, gently aerated and pumped back over a floating cap of grape skins. This primary fermentation takes 20 days in tank. Once drained and pressed, all wines undergo a second and completely natural (Malolactic) fermentation. Clusters 100% destemmed.

Maturation : 18 months in below ground concrete vats.

Tasting notes :

This wine entices first of all by its brilliant garnet-dress colour, then by its dominant nose of very intense blackcurrant with notes of pepper and leather. The attack is voluminous and full. Of a very beautiful osmosis of black fruits, liquorice and leather with its slightly smoked final, this wine presents a lot of length and concentration.
Well balanced between a very pleasant coolness and rich tannins, this wine is for sure a wine for long term aging.

Jean- Luc LANCELOT, cellar master.

A vin de terroir is an expression of finesse and complexity, a wine of individual character and origin…a gift of nature as pure as the soil from which it springs. This unique reserve from Bosquets expresses perfectly for me the character of our Syrah, high in the Dentelles of Gigondas.
Blended only in the best years, this is my Préférence.
